On September 30th, 2020, two AYLUS members teamed up with CPACS to remind the people of Georgia to complete the census. Even though September 30th was the last day of the volunteering, the census has been changed to continue through October. CPACS stands for Center for Pan Asian Community Services and helps to empower immigrants and refugees. The text banking was important since it allowed the members to get to a lot of people at once.
When the meeting started, both members started texting right away because they were familiar with the Hustle platform. Hustle was the site used for text banking and there were around 9, 000 initial messages to send. After doing that, they began responding to texts using prewritten messages as well as a document with questions and answers.
The members enjoyed the experience of being able to help not only CPACS but also the state of Georgia as well.
