Greater Princeton AYLUS Continues In Person Education Help Program (61st) in September 2021

In September, the Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) students continued their in person Education Help Program. Although schools are restarting, some middle school students are still looking for tutoring classes to improve their academic skills in classes like math, science, or reading. Because of this, GPA is holding tutoring opportunities in core subjects.

Annie Miao (9/18, 2 hrs) tutored her students in math: This week, Annie and her tutee finished up their discussions on 3D shapes with volume and surface area. Her tutee learned how surface area volumes were derived and they went through different problems as she practiced how to solve for it given certain known dimensions.

Yan Fischer (9/19, 2 hrs) tutored his students in math. Sophia Song (9/19, 2 hrs) tutored her student in Algebra.

Catherine Feng (9/20) tutored her student in math from 3:30 – 6:00 pm: This week, we focused on Greatest Common Factors (GCF) and Least Common Multiples (LCM) again. We worked on GCF and LCM word problems. We first worked on problems with two values, where we had to find the GCF or LCM. Then, we worked on problems where we also had to use the aforementioned GCF or LCM values to perform other calculations.
Catherine Feng (9/19) tutored another student in math from 6:30 – 8:30 pm: We did a review of addition, subtraction, and multiplication skills, and we practiced switching quickly between addition and subtraction problems.

The program allows GPA members to provide reading, writing, speaking, communication, and more to their students across the country.
