On August 17th, five AYLUS members worked with CPACS to reach out to the people of Georgia and remind them to register to vote. CPACS stands for Center for Pan Asian Community Services and empowers the voice of immigrants who would normally not be heard. Text banking was the method used because volunteers were able to spread the message quickly to tens of thousands of citizens.
When the meeting started, volunteers led a training session that taught new members how to use the site, SPOKE, as well as how to respond to texts and what to do in certain situations. The premade responses in SPOKE had different options that provided responses based on what the text recipient said. All the volunteers worked productively and were given a second bank of contacts to text.
