On August 7, the Sugar Land Branch continued its garden maintenance project at the Memorial Park Butterfly Garden. This time, members primarily focused on weed pulling. As the garden’s flowers grew, so did the weeds; several layers of smaller, unwanted plants had grown and were competing with the garden’s hibiscus and milkweed plants for space and nutrients. Consequently, members pulled large amounts of weeds from around the tall flowering trees, giving them room to grow. In the end, members had accumulated a large pile of weeds.
The participating members were Ella Chen, Isabella Wu, Nicole Wu, Runyan Zhou, Jason Yen, Serena Li, Emma Jiang, and Albon Wu.
