On July 29th, 2021, AYLUS members in Birmingham, AL volunteered at the Central Alabama Food Bank. Following July 8th’s event at the food distribution in Pelham, AYLUS members were invited to visit and ultimately help out at the main building of the Food Bank. It was a Thursday afternoon, with the sun shining bright outside and even brighter smiles inside the warehouse.
AYLUS members were greeted by Food Bank faculty and then escorted into the heart of the warehouse in which they first sorted and boxed food and necessities that would be later shipped out to families in need. Then, they weighted boxes that were full of women and men’s supplies, children’s toys, holiday decorations, clothing, school supplies, and many more. Lastly, AYLUS members helped paint an entire room for future use in the Food Bank facility. We are blessed to have the opportunity to help out our community and foster relations with organizations throughout the metropolitan area.
