On 7/11/21, AYLUS Manhasset helped to participate in an animal release program and a beach cleanup volunteer event. At the start of the event, we said a few well-wishes for the animals to wish them a safe life away from captivity and to have success in the world they were returning to. After the ceremony, volunteers released crabs, fish, and other animals from coolers, filled with saltwater. Following the release of the animals, the instigators of the event initiated a beach cleanup, as the sand was not as pristine as we would have liked it to been. We collected around five bags of trash in total, and this concluded our day at Rockaway beach. Overall, this event was a fun way to give back to wildlife and the environment.
Both Manhasset and Syosset AYLUS members were in attendance. The following volunteers were at this event from Manhasset AYLUS: Gavin Cao(3 hours), Loretta Liu(3 hours), Joanna Yang(3 hours), Benjamin Yang(3 hours), and Matthew yang(3 hours). Alan Huang(3 hours) and Jasmine Chen(3 hours) were also attending from the Syosset branch.
