On July 17, the Sugar Land Branch continued its butterfly garden maintenance project with the Sugar Land Parks and Recreation Department. Members pulled weeds in the northeast corner of the garden, clearing the area to allow more flowers to be neatly planted in the future. Additionally, members took turns filling water in a bucket from the lake to water the plants. The participants thoroughly watered the garden’s large plants, including the numerous milkweed and Texas star hibiscus flowers. Overall, the volunteers’ effort helped immensely with the plants and their survival during the hot, near record-breaking, Texas temperatures.
The participating members were Runyan Zhou, Jason Yen, Emma Jiang, and Albon Wu.
