The Sugar Land Branch launched a debate club in Spring 2020. This club, founded and led by Andrew Lian, focuses on helping elementary school students develop skills in critical thinking, collaboration, persuasion, and communication.
Today we played a game which included preparing them for crossfires, and fast responses during it. Afterward we worked on the blockfile, in which each student was given the assignment to make at least two arguments on the pro and con side. Then, I assigned homework for the students who weren’t able to come to class.
