In January 2021, San Diego volunteers of AYLUS organized the Cookies for Heroes activity. In this activity, AYLUS volunteers baked cookies and other light snacks, which were delivered to front line workers in local hospitals.
As of winter of this year, COVID cases in California rose dramatically. With no signs of decreasing or slowing down, these rampant increases in confirmed cases put an increasingly great strain on the healthcare workers in local hospitals. Many healthcare workers are overworked and in short supply trying to save lives. As the pandemic continues to go on, these many of these heroes are under-rested and are very busy.
In order to show our support for these medical workers, many AYLUS San Diego volunteers delivered cookies to local hospitals. Some volunteers made cookies and other snacks at home, while others bought cookies and delivered them to hospital workers.
Many of the healthcare workers greatly appreciated this sign of our support, and enjoyed the snacks!
