The Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) continued chess classes every Monday along with Chess Tournaments on the first Saturday every month starting in October. During class, we analyzed a game played by masters, looking at the move and figuring out why both players played the way they did. After class, there is always time to play games against each other to have the opportunity to practice the skills we have learned in class in a real game. Having learned a variety of skills, the students are improving their visualization and tactic skills.
Additionally, ABC Chess has introduced another class for beginners. It occurs every Tuesday from 7-8 pm. During class, we teach basic information needed to play a game of chess such as what the pieces are called, how they move, and to how to set up a chess board. Additionally, we taught them about how pieces capture other pieces. Curious players are enjoying learning about the fascinating game of chess.
ABC Chess will be hosting a Chess Tournament on November 7, 2020 from 2-3 pm EST
Participants: Sarah Yan (October 5 & 6, 2 hrs each), Erick Yan (October 5 & 6, 2 hrs each)
