During the first week in October, the Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) students continued their Bilingual Tutoring Program. The program allows GPA members to provide English/Chinese reading, writing, speaking, and communication to their students across the country.
They had conversations over various video calling platforms, such as Zoom or Facetime, with students about topics they are interested in, such as movies, games, and school. Their bilingual tutoring activities included:
GPA members Catherine Feng and Yixin Shirley Zhang teamed up to teach their students Jason and Octor English for an hour and a half through conversations on Monday, 9/28, from 9:45 – 11:15 am and for two hours on Sunday, 10/4, from 9:30 – 11:30 am.
Ryan Tian taught his student Aishia Chinese for half an hour on Thursday, 9/24, from 7:00-7:30 pm and on Monday, 9/28, from 7:00-7:30 pm.
Feiying Qian and Yueqi Yu also teamed up to teach their student English through conversations for 2 hours and 15 minutes on Sunday, 9/27, from 1:00 to 3:15, and for one and a half hour on Saturday, 10/3, from 1:00-2:30 pm.
Siquan Qiu taught her student English through conversations, worksheets, and reading practice.
Ruofei Olivia Ruofei Mao tutored Summer English on Saturday, 10/3, from 1:20-2:20 pm.
Elizabeth Jia tutored her student English on Saturday, 10/3, from 9:00-10:00 pm.
Abigail Bao and Angela Bao teamed up and taught kids in the subjects of English reading and writing twice a week. The 3-hour class on Friday, 10/2 focused on story-telling and open-minded discussion.
Anthony F Yang (10/3) did 2 hours of Community Service through the preparation and class of tutoring third graders (Aimee Zhang, Mulan Yang, Nico Fischer, Dayna Li) reading and writing.
Allen Zhang taught English to a student in New York for 3 hours on 10/4.
