Irvine Branch Hosts 6th Fall History Class on September 29, 2020

On September 29, 2020, volunteers from the Irvine branch of AYLUS hosted its sixth introductory history class for the fall session. We held the lesson on Zoom, and students, consisting of elementary and middle schoolers, had a great time participating.

The class was on the post-Civil War Reconstruction. We talked about the effects of the civil war and what it meant for the US. We discussed the good and bad parts of Reconstruction and the effects that still last to today. The lesson talked about the phases of Reconstruction and the challenges that Congress and the government faced. We had a very satisfactory turnout, and engagement was great.

Students provided great answers, showed curiosity, and asked questions for clarification. Wow, what a great success!
