During the fourth week of September, the Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) students continued their Bilingual Tutoring Program. The program allows GPA members to provide English/Chinese reading, writing, speaking, and communication to their students across the country.
They had conversations over various video calling platforms, such as Zoom or Facetime, with students about topics they are interested in, such as movies, games, and school. Their bilingual tutoring activities included:
GPA member Catherine Feng continued to teach her student Jason and Octor English through having conversations and reading materials for an hour on Sunday, 9/20, from 9:30 – 10:30 am.
Siquan Qiu taught her student English through conversations, worksheets, and reading practice for 66 minutes on Sunday, 9/27, from 3:36 – 4:42 pm.
Ruofei Olivia Mao also tutored her student English for an hour on Saturday, 9/26, from 1:20 – 2:20 pm.
Abigail Bao and Angela Bao teamed up and taught kids in the subjects of English reading and writing twice a week. The 3-hour classes on each of Friday, 9/25 and Sunday, 9/27 for two age groups of students, respectively, focused on story-telling and open-minded discussion.
Feiying Qian and Yueqi Yu teamed up to teach their student English through having conversations.
Ryan Tian tutored his student Aishia Hu Chinese and also mentored two students in English and Math.
Anthony F Yang (9/27) did 2 hours of Community Service through the preparation and class of tutoring third graders (Aimee Zhang, Mulan Yang, Nico Fischer, Dayna Li) reading and writing.
Allen Zhang taught English to a student in New York for 3 hours on 9/26.
