Greater Princeton AYLUS Opens Second Chess Class for Beginners (12th) on September 22, 2020

Despite the COVID-19 outbreak, the Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) continues its ABC Youth Chess Program to help kids learn how to play chess by moving the program online. For beginners, GPA opens its second chess class every Tuesday night, starting September 22, 2020.

Sarah Yan was the Champion of 2017 NJ Open U1600, while Erick Yan was the Champion of 2016 Manhattan Open Mixed Doubles Team. They are teaching around 12 school-aged children how to play chess and various strategies used to win a game. Sarah and Erick taught various skills used to defeat one’s opponent in the complicated game of chess such as pins and forks. With the continuation of the online classes, we can help students who have the passion for learning chess, even during this hard time.

The GPA’s Youth Chess Program is continuing with classes every Monday and Tuesday (beginners only). The 3rd Chess Tournament will occur on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 2-3 pm EST.

Participants (9/21, 1.5 hr; 9/22, 1.5 hr for all): Sarah Yan, Erick Yan
