On September 19,2020, seven members of AYLUS partnered up with CPACS to help as many Georgians as possible fill out the census. CPACS stands for the Center for Pan Asian Community Services, meaning that this organization specializes in helping minorities, especially Asians. When it comes to the census, minority groups such as Asians typically have a harder time filling out the Census form as a result of difficulties such as language barriers. With our help, we can ensure the completion of the census by these minority groups so that they can receive more federal funding and have more representation within their respective district.
Everyone in the session except for one person had used Hustle and participated in this activity before. As a result, we could get straight to work and start messaging. In total, around 17000 messages were sent. While some people had already filled it out, those who did not, had questions that we could answer easily. The process was smooth because the CPACS organization gave us scripted responses that covered nearly every situation that could arise. Although there were occasional unhappy responses from the people we messaged, the members were eager and happy to help our communities.
