On September 4th, 2020, members of the AYLUS-Syosset branch initiated a clean-up project to get ready for the beginning of the 2020 fall semester.
The Ira Road Park and its playground next to Village Elementary School has always been the sanctuary for kids in the neighborhood. To keep it clean and celebrate the ending of the summer, members of AYLUS-Syosset biked from near and far to gather in front of the Village Elementary School, and then biked around the neighborhood all the way to the Syosset train station, then to Ira Road Park, picking up trash and recyclables along the way for two hours. They covered a total area of 249,791.45 m² (62 acres) and biked a total distance of 12 kms (7.5 miles).
AYLUS-Syosset members followed social distancing rules to protect themselves and others while cleaning up the neighborhood. Participants include Ryan Leung(2 hours), Alan Huang(2 hours), Jasmine Chen(2 hours) and Matthew Lee.
