Since Summer 2020, student members of the Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) have teamed up to offer a Bilingual Tutoring Program. The program allows GPA members to provide English/Chinese reading, writing, speaking, and communication to their students across the country. They had conversations over various video calling platforms, such as Zoom or Facetime, with students about topics they are interested in, such as movies, games, and school.
During the first week of September, their tutoring activities include:
GPA member Catherine Feng taught her student Jason English through having conversations and reading different materials for an hour on Monday, 8/31, from 9:30-10:30 am.
GPA member Yixin Shirley Zhang continued to teach her student Daniel Chinese poems for an hour on Monday, 8/31, from 4:00-5:00 pm.
Catherine Feng and Yixin Shirley Zhang also teamed up on Tuesday, 9/1, to tutor a student for an hour session from 2:00-3:00 pm on how to talk about their hobbies and interests using Chinese.
GPA members Abigail Bao, Angela Bao, and Ruofei Olivia Mao offered a 3-hour class on Friday, September 4, focusing on story-telling. Nearly 10 children, namely Sandy, Jessica, Zishan, Andrew, Max, Molly, Annie, Melanie, and Cindy, attended their class and had a lot of fun!
