September 2, East Cobb Branch Census 2020 Text Banking I

On September 2, 2020, nine AYLUS members partnered with CPACS to help send messages to people to remind them to take the 2020 census. Since the deadline for the 2020 census is September 30th, members are sending hundreds of messages to people to remind them to take the census because the census determines what the government funding is going to spent on.

When the meeting started, the staff member introduced the AYLUS members to who they were and what they did. After all the members introduced themselves, they signed up for “Hustle”, a platform designed to send out messages and respond to them.  The CPACS staff explained how to send out messages and how to respond to messages. The members were excited to start, and were eager to make contributions to the 2020 census.

After explaining how things worked, the members spent the rest of the meeting sending out messages. At the end, the members had sent about 2.54,000 messages in just 20 minutes or so.
