On August 25, 2020, volunteers from the Irvine branch of AYLUS hosted its very first introductory history class for the fall session. The platform the lesson was conducted through was Zoom (from Discord), and students, consisting of elementary and middle schoolers, had a great time participating.
After student introductions, we started from Christopher Columbus and moved on to the seven year war. Early American history was taught before the revolution. Content extended to the various British acts and events that created tensions that would spark the revolution. A Kahoot was held and students answered eagerly. Next, we went through our slides and showed a video; as always, student participation was excellent.
Questions were asked and answered immediately throughout the course of the lesson. The students enjoyed our content and the teachers observed a lot of laughs and smiles on camera.
