Recently, the Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) “Community Service Team” worked as counselors for a Children’s Summer Camp, designed for children from K to 6th grade. It is a great opportunity for GPA volunteers to work with younger kids and teach them about life skills, art and social lessons.
On August 16, the GPA volunteers attended a final prep meeting where all the counselors met to discuss events that would occur during the camp. The first day, on the 17th, went successfully. The camp started with an interactive game to get everyone to introduce themselves. Then the game was followed by lessons and fun activities. Amber Yu gave a presentation about a story with another counselor to the campers. Xiangcheng Ying helped to lead the campers in making air dry clay. The campers were all very engaged and enjoyed the activities very much.
So far, the camp has been a great success. The GPA team provided all the campers with a great first day of camp this year, the perfect way to help the community during the pandemic.
Participants: Amber Yu (8/16, 1 hr; 8/17, 2.5 hrs) and Xiangcheng Ying (8/16, 1 hr; 8/17, 2.5 hrs)
