Sugar Land Branch Launches Summer Stay Fit At Home Exercise Sessions

With social distancing precautions, people are limited to travel. Stuck at home, many children, teens, and adults are lacking an important necessity: exercise. On August 3, Sugar Land AYLUS members Nicole Wu and Isabella Wu launched a two-week Stay Fit At Home Exercise Sessions to be held Monday to Friday, each session lasting for 30 minutes.

Members worked hard to create different warmups, along with cardio, abs, and muscle strengthening workouts for each session. This first session featured extensive cardio. Members also created fun challenges including plank, wall sit, and horse stance competitions, and a 145 burpee set to be distributed throughout the following two weeks. There were around 20 participants, with ages ranging from 6 to 40. To ensure workouts were suited for each age group, members created modifications for difficult exercises and allowed participants to follow along at their own pace. These sessions not only promoted activity during quarantine, but also connected participants from around the country, including New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Texas (Sugar Land, Houston, Austin, Pearland).
