On July 31, 2020, members of the AYLUS RSM Branch participated in making pillows to be donated to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, California. The activity allowed members to bond with one another and interact with face masks on. In total, 18 heart pillows were made with varying cloth patterns.
To begin, members traced heart shapes out of cardboard templates and cut them out. From there, other members took the two heart shapes and sewed them together with sewing machines, making sure to leave a gap for stuffing. Next, they were turned inside out to hide seams and were stuffed with cotton. Finally, under adult guidance, the gap was sewed and the pillows completed.
