Phoenix branch summarized recent volunteer activities during summer break and reported them as a series of reports on the first page of Chinese local new paper Phoenix Chinese Press.
The first series is about 3D printing and handmade face shields. Phoenix branch initiates 3D printing projects starting by end of April 2020, so far a total of eight 3D printers are joined our 3D printing club, a total of about 500 face shields are made and donated to local hospitals and senior centers. 3D printing club will contribute to print face shields, face mask strap remix and etc, which can help the frontline healthcare to fight COVID-19, meanwhile the volunteers learn a lot from 3D printing like 3D design, hands-on experience on equipment, process solving. Because the 3D printing project is involved not only 3D design but also material, thermal, mechanical, electronics, and automation academics, it is very good project for hands-on STEM and self-learning and self -motivated.
