On July 17, 2020, AYLUS proudly hosted its third national virtual seminar with featured speaker Dr. John Xiaowu Wang.
Dr. Wang is the founder of AYLUS, our youth volunteer organization AYLUS, and IvyTrack, the largest educational group in North America; and the author of the book “The Chinese American Method”. The key topics of this seminar were volunteering and college planning.

July 2020 is the 5 year anniversary for AYLUS. We will now play an introduction video on our history, mission, activities, and award system of AYLUS. Dr. Wang, would you kindly share some comments? For example, a vision for the next five years?
In your opinion, what is the most important aspect of student education?
Someone has said: “The best way to go to a good college is by planning and doing a passion project”. What are your thoughts on that?
The path that Dr. Wang said, should be realistic so you need to make sure you choose a target that has something that inspires you, and excites you, that way you can continue and pursue that in the long run.
In what ways can AYLUS leadership help in college applications?
What’s the impact on college admissions because of COVID-19? Do you have any suggestions for the rising seniors?
How important will standardized tests (PSAT, SAT, ACT) be for the Class of 2022 in terms of college application?
Should volunteer contributions during the COVID-19 be used as a college essay topic? In general, how should the essay be written?
