On June 28, 2020, the AYLUS proudly hosted its second national virtual seminar with guest speaker Richard Yan, a senior from New York.
For the past few months, Richard has been using his unique video producing talents and audience to raise thousands of dollars through charity campaigns for hospitals & frontline workers amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Richard runs a YouTube channel with over 255,000 subscribers. Recently, he ran 2 charity campaigns to raise money for the Westchester Medical Center amidst the COVID-19 pandemic which involved a self-produced parody music video of John Lennon’s “Imagine” and a 30-day fitness campaign to 3000 pushups and 3000 squats.
During the seminar, Richard Yan shared his high school activities and video producing experience. He also tried to answer the following questions:
- How did you balance your academic and volunteer activities over the high school years?
- What are some key life lessons you’ve throughout volunteering?
- Why do you think volunteering is so important?
- What kind of volunteering activities did you organize and take part in?
- Do you plan on continuing to volunteer throughout college? If so, how will you do so?
- Were there any skills you improved through volunteering? i.e. interpersonal skills, public speaking, management.
Students across the country attended the seminar and appreciated Richard’s sharing very much. You can reach Richard for questions at his YouTube channel: ShredderFTW.
