Greater Princeton AYLUS Teamed up to Tutor Kids Math (18th) on June 21, 2020

On June 21, 2020, student members of the Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA), Kevin Song and Karen Yang, teamed up and taught kids from West Windsor in the subjects of math. The 1.5-hour class offered by GPA members Karen Yang and Kevin Song teach Pre-Algebra class to 6 kids: Kathy, Victor, Claire, Meisu, Claire, and Mia.

This week launches the start of our Summer semester! In an attempt to speed up the learning and teaching of the material, GPA members are planning to do two classes per week, one on Sunday (2:00-3:30) and one on Wednesday (4-5). This class introduced a new style of teaching with Google Slides (the kids seemed to find this easier!).

Kids were taught online again, beginning with an opening question shown on the picture with the screen. Next, they reviewed last week’s homework with some of the challenge problems. Then the warm up question. Additionally, they looked at their science homework results and what conclusions they had. After, the inequalities and their graphs with examples and word problems, giving the kids a chance to practice today’s lesson. A Kahoot game was played to review and cement their knowledge. Finally, they continued their science lesson with some ecology knowledge and assigned the homework to be checked on Wednesday. All in all, it was a fun class!
