A total of 21 students have enrolled for GT-MATH lessons, ranging from incoming grades 4 to 6. The lessons were led by the AYLUS member Bryan Li, and co-led by ALYUS members Aaron Wu and Alan Chen. The lessons consist of one large group lecture (one hour) per week to go through basic concepts and new knowledge on topics that may be present on the highly gifted math tests, and one small group discussion (seven students per tutor, one hour per week) to work through and discuss how to do free-response questions that could be indicative of more difficult questions on examinations. The three tutors take turns leading the large group lecture with the other two present to address questions, and each tutor conducts their small group lectures at different times of the week. The tutors prepare notes and lessons using Word, LaTeX, and visualization utilities such as GeoGebra. The list of topics was prepared by Bryan Li by taking topics and skills from the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade TEKS and past exams. The tutors referenced multiple resources, such as GO Math! books, the SAT, and Singapore Math books in order to construct the curriculum and questions.
