Olympia Branch AYLUS Organized and Initiated a Food Drive for Food Lifeline from June 1st and delivered on June 17th

During the first week of June, the Olympia, WA Branch initiated a local food drive to help hungry families during the COVID pandemic. Not only do specific people need assistance during this time to survive, food banks are also receiving more attention than usual. To do our part and encourage others in our community, we decided to start this project.

After weeks of collecting and spreading information, our branch made our delivery on June 17th of 2020. Beginning a food drive was challenging at times due to the lack of physical communication with the public, however, we were able to find and improvise innovative ways to involve the community.

The time that the food drive collecting and labelling took 6 hours, however, a lot of preparation needed to be accomplished ahead.

To prepare and spread information, Jingyi Zhao created a PDF flyer for the community and distributed them to the community. Then, the whole group was able to deliver the goal of 4 standard boxes of food to Food Lifeline Food Bank.

Hours for Jingyi Zhao and Beatrice Manu: June 1st: 4 hours for design and distribution, June 2nd-17th: 6 hours for communication and delivery
