On April 7th, the Sugar Land Branch launched a debate club to teach elementary students basic skills on debating and public speaking led by Andrew Lian. Through the club, he coaches a class of students interested in debate from schools around the area, including Walker Station Elementary, Commonwealth Elementary, Cornerstone Elementary, Colony Meadows Elementary, Colony Bend Elementary, and Anne McCormick Sullivan Elementary. The club activities include weekly classes through Zoom, one on one feedback for students on their essays and cases, and trial debate tournaments within the club.
The meeting dates thus far were on 4/7, 4/14, 4/21 and 4/28.
