Starting from March 30, the Sugar Land Branch Junior Support Program led by Junior Leader Alvin Zhou offered free weekly math, geometry, phonics, and reading lessons for kids in preschool every Monday and Friday through the online platform Zoom. Each class lasted for 45 minutes, with an average of 25+ students per lesson from Canada, the United States, Brazil, and Japan. Alvin set up this program because of the COVID-19 outbreak, which caused the closing of many schools. He designed the program’s curriculum and was later joined by Shaopan Gao in mid-April. Alvin and Shaopan plan to continue this program until the end of this semester.
The lessons took place on 3/30, 4/3, 4/6, 4/10, 4/13, 4/17, 4/20, and 4/24.
