On April 12, 2020, the Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) uploaded another promotional video on social media, which was about GPA’s helping NY/NJ/PA health care workers and public services to fight COVID-19.
The COVID-19 is now a real threat to the world, including the United States. Many pleas from our hospitals and rescue squads show that the alarming condition of shortage in personal protective equipment, esp. masks while they are thriving to provide medical service and respond to emergency calls within our community. Save A Life started a 48 hour flash fundraiser. Thanks to the support of the International Leadership Foundation and everyone, GPA donated thousands of N95 comparable masks to NJ & NY hospitals, such as Princeton Medical Center, Princeton First Aid & Rescue Squad, Plainsboro Rescue Squad, Montgomery EMS, Planned Parenthood, Hackensack Meridian Health, Englewood Hospital, Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, JFK Medical Center, Jersey City Medical Center, NYU, Cornell, Columbia University Medical School, and Mercy Medical Center in Long Island.
“Your generous donation will help us in Princeton Medicine Physicians working on COVID-19 testing site, inpatient floor, and intensive care units. The faith that you have shown in our work is greatly appreciated. On behalf of everyone at Princeton Medicine Physicians, we extend our sincere gratitude towards you for your generous and thoughtful donation to our organization.” — Dr. Lauren Hogshire, Medical Director of Princeton Medicine Hospitalist Services of Penn Medicine.
Further, the COVID-19 will not prevent our community from normal operation. Save A Life provided 4,000 surgical masks to the Police Departments in Princeton, West Windsor, Plainsboro, and Hamilton. The donated PPE keeps police safe while they are thriving to respond to emergency calls within our community. Some surgical masks also went to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, NJ Veterans Memorial Home, Princeton First Aid & Rescue Squad, and high-risk community, e.g. ARTIS Senior Living.Through several rounds of fundraisers and immense donations, many personal protective equipment, such as N95/KN95/surgical masks, gloves, disinfectant wipes, and medical gowns, went to where there are urgent needs for them.
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) physicians and anesthesiologists are facing a high risk of being infected. GPA Save A Life responded to their urgent need of high quality medical protective gowns. Working with the International Leadership Foundation, we donated over 4,000 ICU grade gowns to physicians and anesthesiologists in NY, NJ, and PA hospitals: Columbia, Cornell, New York University, Lenox Hill Hospital, Hackensack Meridian Medical Center, Princeton Medical Center, Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, Capital Health System, and Jersey Shore University Medical Center, etc.
Thousands of physicians and nurses across the country were voluntarily going to NYC to help treat COVID-19 patients, taking high risk and volunteering their priceless service to save countless lives. GPA Save A Life appreciates the great sacrifice and wants to be of help. We provided medical protective equipment, including N95 type and surgical masks, goggles, gloves, and gowns to the Response Teams before going to NYC.
Thank you, everyone, for what you have done! Save A Life, Go AYLUS!
