Reported by Amber Yu

Valentine’s Day is a very special day to celebrate different love. The Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) “Humanitarian Care” team spread the love of friendship and spend time with the children at the Cornerstone Community Kitchen in Princeton (PCCK) from 4:20pm to 6:20 pm on Feb 12, 2020.

PCCK is a food pantry regularly serving dinner and providing kids with a play area once a week on Wednesdays. The kitchen’s goal is to help underprivileged people in the Princeton area. In early January, Amber Yu contacted PCCK coordinator Judy and arranged an origami activity as a special addition to the pre-Valentine’s Day dinner.

After arrival, Donna Nagorny and Amber Yu set up all the origami materials. There were many colorful papers and interesting origami creations to choose from. They taught the kids how to make the paper into squares and then to fold that into hearts, airplanes, samurai helmets, etc. Everyone adored this special program. The coordinator was grateful that the GPA team could take initiative and help the kids’ program be a place of joy and harmony, which successfully brought Valentine’s cheer to the community kitchen.
