On November 23, 2019, 16 East Cobb Young Musicians from the East Cobb Branch of AYLUS performed at the Salona, Alto, and Arbor Terrace for 4 hours in total.
First, a few members went to the Salona. These members played very fascinating musical pieces for the senior citizens, and they also handed out Thank-you cards to the senior citizens for expressing their gratitude of being allowed to come and play music. These members first played in the lobby, and then they went to the interior of the building to perform for the senior citizens who couldn’t come to the lobby. Some of the senior citizens even went out of their way to tell how good the performances were.
At Alto, the group was joined by more members. With more people playing, the performance was very good. It was obvious from the expressions that everyone was enjoying the performance. Thank-you cards were also given out at the Alto for letting the East Cobb Young Musicians play for the senior citizens.
The last location was Arbor Terrace which was a very welcoming place. The East Cobb Young Musicians had been to Arbor Terrace many times, and the senior citizens at Arbor Terrace really enjoyed the East Cobb Young musicians’ performances. More members showed up to play intriguing musical pieces for the senior citizens, especially the quintet performance at Arbor Terrace really impressed the senior citizens. Thank-you cards were also passed out to the senior citizens.
All the performers were so happy to give back to the community. Because it was Thanksgiving, the performers really wanted to thank the seniors for not only being such an amazing part of the community, but also for allowing the performers to share their music to them. Each month the senior centers welcome the performers with open arms, and the performances are so happy to be able to visit the seniors every month.
