On October 5th, the East Cobb Branch of AYLUS held East Cobb Youth Tutoring program at Mountain View Library. A total of 4 students showed up, with 2 tutors to help the students.
The East Cobb Branch holds the Youth Tutoring program every Saturday during school days, giving kids in the Cobb area an opportunity to receive help. The interaction between tutors and students also makes learning more enjoyable.
This time, the tutors taught 4 students. All are elementary school students. The tutors worked on a variety of subjects with their students. The program gives students a comfortable environment to ask for help in academics students such as reading and math.
One of the first students struggled with Multiplication when they came. After a bit of explaining and practice, Ethen helped him understand in depth how to multiply. Soon, he was a pro at multiplication. Ethen also did a book sorting job from 3:45-4:30, as Maxwell has to join in the music performance at senior center.
I found that if the student was struggling in any subject, usually, 30 minutes session might not enough, I will recommend setting a flexible tutoring time when we have open slot.
Attendance: Ethen Chen(2hrs) Maxwell Jiang(1hrs)
