On October 5, 2019, students from the Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) led by Fengqi (David) Wen volunteered in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s event hosted in Hamilton, New Jersey.

Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer’s and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease. Walk to End Alzheimer’s event is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. All proceeds generated by these events go to Alzheimer’s Association, which is a nonprofit association that aims to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research.

GPA volunteers arrived at Veterans Park (2206 Kuser Rd.) at 8:30 am to participate in this event. Wearing Volunteer shirts, GPA members stood on the two mile walk and cheered the walkers on. During this three hour event, GPA volunteers met numerous walkers of all ages, coming together and participating in this event, some people for many years. They all held flowers and wear wristbands to display their connections to the terrible disease.

Overall, 83 Teams and 1000+ participants joined this event in Hamilton, NJ on October 5, 2019, with a total of $140,777 raised!
