Here it comes one of the most important holidays for our community, the Mid-Autumn Festival! As always, Greater Princeton AYLUS (GPA) took this opportunity to give music performance for patients and brought our community a lot of joy.
On September 14, 2019 between 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm, 40 GPA members hosted a wonderful “Happy Mid-Autumn Festival” Concert at the Merwick Care & Rehabilitation Center in Plainsboro, New Jersey (100 Plainsboro Rd, Plainsboro, NJ 08536, 609-759-6000).
GPA President Cassie Tammy Wang and Vice President Zihui Alisa Xiao, gladly hosted the event along with the Chinese Program Director Anisa Knox and Coordinator Christine Hui at Merwick. Together they announced the beginning of performance to hundreds of senior audience at 2 pm.
The performance was put together quite attractive with singing both English and Chinese folk songs; folk dancing; a variety of instruments, solo and duet, including the violin, clarinet, and flute; magical world of Rubik’s Cube; and the best of all, Poem Recitation! All seniors at the Merwick were extremely appreciative of the performance and enjoyed it very much. To end the program, all performers stood together and wished the hundreds of audience “Happy Mid-Autumn Festival” in both English and Chinese.
After the performance, our performers and volunteers did not leave right away; they had some warm moment with the senior audience, learning how the seniors appreciated this performance at such a wonderful time. Feedback was collected in order to have such concerts improved in the future.
