On Aug 30. 2019, 11 members of East Cobb Young Musicians performed at Alto, Arbor Terrace, and The Solana senior center for 3.5 hours.
Members performed pieces such as Chopin Nocturnes and Czardas. A variety of instruments were played and some members also sang songs. Ashley wowed the crowd with her singing because of her amazing talents at such a young age.
When we arrived at Alto, the seniors welcomed the members with excited faces . While the members performed, the seniors listened to the music with cheerful smiles and clapped along with the music.
At Arbor Terrance, we were welcomed by a huge crowd. Since many of our members prepared several pieces, we played extra pieces for the seniors. A quartet that played Libertango really grasped the seniors’ attention because of the intense playing and wonderful display of emotion throughout the piece. Before the members left, the seniors had many wonderful responses to the playing. Many seniors complimented the performers of their wonderful playing. The performers were also happy to see such great feedback from the seniors.
At the Solana, many seniors joined the audience as the performance began. The seniors at the Solana were very eager to see the performance. Large amounts of applause was given to the performers after they finished performing.
The members were delighted to be able to perform for such an amazing audience. They were happy to be able to share their love of music with the seniors. The music was authentic and the seniors enjoyed it.
