Greater Princeton AYLUS (GPA) promotes reading among students. “A good review will briefly describe the contents, scope, and style of a book; critically assess its quality; and suggest its potential audience.” – Horning & Innerst, From Cover to Cover (1997).
Plainsboro Library’s Goodreads Review is a user-friendly program. The review may be between 200-400 words. It should clearly indicate if you recommend the title or not. It is okay if you didn’t like the book, but be sure to tell why. You could read anything you would like – fiction, non-fiction, young adult, adult, juvenile fiction, picture books, graphic novels; then write about the plot and pacing, character development, style, mood, or use of images in non-fiction materials, etc.
GPA “Goodreads Promotion Team” works hard with the Plainsboro Public Library and keeps contributing book reviews so more students get involved with reading and writing. Early this summer, they contributed four more book reviews, including “Fahrenheit 451”, “The Arabian Nights”, “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”, and “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea”, to the library, on May 27, June 15, June 26, and July 8, 2019, respectively.
Book review provides a wonderful learning and sharing experience. It’s a perfect summer volunteering project for AYLUS members!
Community Service Time: 30 minutes for each review (May 27, June 15, June 26, and July 8, 2019)
