On Saturday, September 17, three members of the AYLUS North Shore branch participated in the annual LICAA (Long Island Chinese American Association) Midautumn Festival, held at the Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park of Oyster Bay.
The event lasted from 11 AM to 5 PM, providing fun for families and at the same time a chance to learn about Chinese culture.
The three volunteers, Andy Yang, Jenny Luo and Jake Li, hosted a booth to teach children paper crafts, including origami and Chinese folk art paper cutting. They were joined by an art teacher who also volunteered.
In addition, the branch members helped in the process of setting up for this large-scale event, along with other young volunteers of LICAA. They were all exhausted from having worked with more than 50 kids throughout the day, but also had a lot of fun and were glad to be able to engage others in a fun and educational activity.
