Giving is Receiving
7 December, 2015
The golden rule tells us that we should treat others the way we want to be treated. Plus, we also feel better when doing in benefit of other people. This means that if we help others, we receive happiness. Even some small, simple things like hugging someone or even saying thank you can make us and others really happy. And also when we help others, they will help us back. It is in receiving that we give and in giving that we receive. It is a complete cycle that always goes back and forth.
Some people don’t help others because they have sadness in their lives, like depression, anger or sadness. Some people don’t know the right path to happiness, so they bully others to gain power and happiness. Those are people who need help in their life. If we give help to them, we may make a difference in their lives. When they eventually realize that helping others is an important part of life, they may help us later on.
Leo Buscaglia said, “Your talent is God’s gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to god.” God gave us gifts and talents, so we must return the favor to him. We must help each other as God wanted us too. If we all give more than receiving, we will change the world and make a difference. This Thanksgiving, my sister and I prepared and cooked a Thanksgiving Dinner for our family. We took many hours to cook the turkey, and we also had to cook sides like vegetables, fruits, smoothies and some other meats. Although we were tired but we enjoyed so much the work because we were returning the favor to our family, who cooked us food and supported us through our lives, and gave us the opportunity to live our lives. Now it is our time and effort to return much of the favor. I plan to help my family out as much as I can because of everything I own and everything I have.
Receiving may make us happy, but giving will make the world happy. Finally, I want to share some quotes on “giving is receiving”
“Giving is the key to living life of abundance blessings.” ― Lailah Gifty Akita
“We are not cisterns made for hoarding; we are channels made for sharing.” ― Billy Graham
“Time is valuable in life. You can show someone how much you appreciate them by giving your time. A good amount of time goes by each day. Spending time with the ones you love shows them how much you care.” ― Amaka Imani Nkosazana, Release The Ink
