Why do I love AYLUS?
27 November, 2015
“Leaders become great, not because of their power, but because of their ability to empower others,” as John Maxwell once said. The Alliance of Youth Leaders in the United States (AYLUS) is a great organization that refines a young adult’s leadership skills and also empowers the members of our community. But why do I love AYLUS? When I first joined the association, I told my friends, “I’m so glad I joined AYLUS! Such an opportunity that allows me to display my talents and cultivate my morals is rare to find. Plus, it’s a way to expand your social network and meet new people who share the same interests.”
Today’s world lacks unique leadership opportunities, especially in Asian communities. Although this may sound stereotypically biased, most Asian students tend to solely focus on studying. Studying is a wonderful habit, but it does not necessarily guarantee the development of a student’s leadership skills. AYLUS provides such a special opportunity to create well-rounded students with new-enlightened futures. At the same time, the organization includes a generous community where people can be themselves and make new friends. The experience of creating friendships shapes one’s character into a respectable young adult.
Overall, I love AYLUS because it yields a large amount of opportunities to better oneself.
