In the month of September 2021, the East Cobb Branch of AYLUS held online youth tutoring activities, in light of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. The East Cobb Branch has also started doing some in person tutoring again. All tutoring activities are one-on-one and use Skype, Zoom, Facetime, and similar methods to communicate.
We’ve changed our original tutoring program as libraries have closed due to the pandemic, and meeting students in person is no longer viable. As students need arguably more help during this period of school closures, we are giving kids in our area an opportunity to receive help. The interaction between tutors and students also makes learning more enjoyable.
Faith Huang continued to help the rising 6th grade student with her daily piano practice. Each time, Faith and the student would do a facetime call where Faith helped supervise the student’s piano practice. Faith would give advice if needed and always give words of encouragement. Faith and the 6th grade student have become comfortable with each other through the constant interaction, and the student is really glad to be able to have someone motivate and help with her practice.
