Message from Allen Xu:

Public relations are seen as a vital part of maintaining an organization’s image and communicating its message to its customers, employees, investors and the general public. A positive perception of a company or non-profit organization can increase its sales and improve its bottom line. The point of public relations is to make the public think favorably about the organization and its offerings.

The Alliance of Youth Leaders in the United States (AYLUS) is a high school student run non-profit organization. Being a newly founded organization whether it is practiced formally or informally, public relations is an essential function for the survival of AYLUS. No matter how important AYLUS’s cause is, we should not expect everyone to know about it or even about AYLUS.

I am one of the proud founders of AYLUS and enthusiastically desire to contribute to the Public Relation’s committee, in order to promote AYLUS. Communication is the essence of public relations. I practiced public speaking since middle school. As a President of the Public Speaking Club and a member of the Student-Faculty Senate for three years in a row, I have gained leadership experience and problem-solving skills. I love debating. It teaches me the skills of researching, organizing, and presenting information in a compelling fashion. But more importantly it encourages teamwork and improves my critical thinking skills.
Public relations are vital to the success of AYLUS. I’m willing to take the challenge and I’m confident that the public relations’ activities will be organized and completed efficiently, consistently, and effectively. Once I am the Chair of the Public Relations committee, I would

1) Recruit committee members with common interests and experience;
2) Lead the committee to launch a public relations campaign;
3) Lead the committee to establish public relations programs;
4) Communicate with other committees to coordinate various activities (such as recruiting members, creating local branches, publicizing events, launching projects, announcing public/community services, fund-raising, horning organizational milestones/achievements, etc.);
5) Maximize AYLUS’s use of social media to build its positive image and to accomplish its mission.

I’m excited about the opportunity of being involved in helping AYLUS grow. Can you envision dozens of local AYLUS branches with hundreds of brilliant members across the country by this time next year? I can!
