AYLUS Columbus volunteers spent the past month creating 46 placemats for the City of Dublin’s Meals on Wheels program. The mats were delivered to the Dublin Service Center on April 12 to be distributed to Meals on Wheels recipients around the community.
Meals on Wheels deliveries help those who are 60 years of age or older and otherwise unable to receive in-person meals. This program has become of even greater importance during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, as older residents, especially those who are further immunocompromised, have higher risks of both infection and severity.
Volunteers incorporated spring themes into their placemats during this round. Despite this time of year being busy, with exam season and the end of the school year approaching fast, members were able to try a variety of new techniques, including paint markers, digital art, colored paper, and collages. Their creativity and dedication will surely continue to bring joy to their community.
