February AYLUS East Cobb Branch Fundraising SAT Camp

In February of 2022, the East Cobb Branch of AYLUS continued the fundraiser SAT Reading prep camp. All proceeds would be donated to the CCYA. This prep camp focused on SAT Reading skills and test taking strategies. The students taught by Jack Xu, the President or East Cobb Branch who had previously received perfect scores on both SAT and PSAT exams. Other two members of the branch who scored 99% on their PSAT worked at TAs and another member help with material printing.

The first session including five classes teaching reading and occurs every Sunday. One 65 minutes reading practice test was given every class. These tests were timed accordingly to College Board standards. After the students finished taking reading section, the TA would check the answers, and students had time to go over their test with the correct answers. After checking, the tutor and TA marked all the wrong answers to make sure those questions had been covered during the class. At the end of the class, if a student still didn’t understand a certain problem, the tutor and TA offered one on one Q&A to make sure everything was clear for the students. Tutoring was fun for the tutor, and it made them glad they could teach other students their strategies and tips that allowed them to achieve a high SAT reading score. This Camp was successfully fundraised $875 for the homeless children shelter.
