Murrieta AYLUS Helps Local Food Bank ( 24th) ( 8/02/2023)

Reported by Adora Xiao :

On Wednesday, August 2nd, Murrieta AYLUS members lended a hand to the Community Mission of Hope food bank.
As the day started relatively slowly, the volunteers unloaded bread from carts. They sorted the rolls, sliced loaves, and desserts, each on their own racks and shelves. After the bead, they began bagging meats, mixing and matching packages and storing each bag of meat into a larger box, to later be used and distributed.
They moved to the dry food area for the rest of the day. Given the large influx of donated foods, the volunteers were tasked with sorting. The boxes were placed in alphabetical order and the large bins of food were sorted according to food and container type, tossing out a few of the foods that had been opened. As crates were filled and taken away, the piles of donated food slowly disappeared. With the newly made crates, they began bagging different foods to later be distributed. They began with a bag of snacks and desserts, only stopping when all the snacks and dessert had been used. They then made larger bags of canned foods, pastas, and ramen. Making over 200 of these bags, the volunteers then took a short break, before returning to clean up and move some of the remaining foods to be stored for later use.
