AYLUS Great Neck Branch Volunteered at Planting Fields Arboretum State Park on 10/5/2024(47th)

On October 5th, Saturday, Aylus hosts another volunteering at a Planting Fields Arboretum State Park and starts a new, fresh plot of land for restoration. The entire session is based on clearing weeds or invasive ivys from the ground that blocked valued plants from surviving. The initial breakdown of the ivy is easy. As each long string of ivies are connected to each other making them easy to pull out with hands and iron racks. However, individual leafs and stems are left from the mass pulling that requires to be dealt with themselves. We first finished a little island of ivies then started on a much larger portion of the plants that also included dead logs and sticks and dead leaves that required to be cleared in addition for the land to be replanted. All in all, a very successful session as visible headway can be witnessed and the efforts are pretty well contributed from all participating members.
