On Sunday, September 22, 2024, volunteers from AYLUS Chapel Hill dedicated their time to purchasing tools from Lowe’s and fixing the door of the little library at Bolin Creek Trail, near the Gene Strowd Community Rose Garden. The door had swollen due to rain exposure, making it difficult to close and putting the books at risk. To protect the books and keep the library functional, the volunteers carefully repaired the door. Now, it fits securely and closes tightly, providing better protection from the weather. This repair will help maintain the books and ensure the little library remains a valuable resource for all visitors.
In addition to repairing the door, the volunteers developed and attached a laminated instruction sheet to the library. This guide explains how to borrow and donate books and encourages users to care for the library. These instructions help ensure that the library stays well-maintained and welcoming for the entire community.
Volunteers who participated in this event were Alwin Liu (2.5 hours) and Pengda Liu (2.5 hours)
