On 6/5/2024, Aylus Great Neck hosted its weekly tutoring session for nearby students.
Our volunteers helped three different students today.
We first had a student who had difficulty with her math homework, and required one-on-one assistance. Our member Katie Yang helped her with word problems and solving equations.
We also had a young student learning how to increase her proficiency in reading chapter books. Our member Elaine Xing read a variety of picture books for her, asking questions about the content along the way.
Finally, we had a student who needed to work on a biology lab report. Our volunteer Kalli Zhu accompanied him and answered all questions that were asked.
By 5:30PM, we finished up and said goodbye to our students.

On 6/8/2024, Aylus Great Neck hosted another tutoring session for students at the Great Neck Public Library Station Branch. Our volunteers arrived at the library at about 4:30PM.
One student wanted to practice their communication skills, so our volunteer Ruiqi Liu played a game of Battleship with him, played a game of Chutes and Ladders, and listened to him talk about WWII military technology. He definitely communicated effectively during the session!
Another student wanted to do some geography quizzes to practice and learn more information. Our volunteer Emma Ding was happy to help her and do the quizzes with her. They had a lot of fun learning about our world!
After about an hour, our volunteers said their goodbyes and left.
