On December 10th of 2023, The Roslyn AYLUS branch partnered with The Chinese Cultural Association of Long Island, as scheduled from 1:30 to 5:00 PM.
In the cultural class today, we helped the children complete their homework when they faced problems that they could not complete on their own. When some students could not understand the content of the previous class due to absence from class, we helped them with individual tutoring to ensure that they could fully understand the class knowledge. When the teacher needed to go out for some reason, we temporarily took over the classroom to maintain order and ensure that no classmates were harmed. We also took the younger children to the bathroom, helped the teachers copy materials, and prepared documents for speeches. Before class, we took attendance to confirm which students were missing today and prepared in advance for individual help in the next class. We also arranged all the tables and chairs after the class to ensure everything was restored to its original appearance.
After the cultural class, students went to different art classes, where the calligraphy teacher’s volunteers distributed water to each student and corrected their writing order. Also cleaned every table with wet wipes as they left. Volunteers in KongF classes will guide students’ movements to ensure they did the position safely. Students in the art class exercised their hands-on skills with the children and cleaned up the garbage left by them.
